Thomas Paine was born in Thetford, England as the son of a corset maker. He left home at age of 19 during the war at 1756. He was intrigued by philosophy. When he started to aqpprentice in corset making he devoted his free time to reading and learning.He worked in various jobs in various towns
He was influenced by French thinkers who upheld scientific reasoning over irrational religious dogmas.
Tom Paine was a defender of human rights. His "The Rights of Man" was a defence of democracy and republican principles. Tom Paine argued that any government which did not achieve liberty and happiness for the people should be thrown. He fought for the American Revolution and published pamplets supporting it. In his "Age of Reason" he criticisized Christianity from the point of natural religion, deism.
Tom Paine was a philosopher fond of freedom and justice, who acted upon how he thought and influenced the world. He was opposed to death penalty and got into trouble as a result of his attitude. He was put in prison
