FRANCIS BACON
Francis Bacon tried to develop a more materyalistic philosophy which went back to Democritus and which aimed to replace the dominant Aristotelian and Platonic traditions. He is credited with the slogan "Knowledge is Power". He said "If a man will begin with certainties he shall end in doubts; but if he will be content to begin with doubts, he shall end in certainties.
